Artists at the Center
Béjart Ballet Lausanne
Hugo Marchand
In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels will support the New York City Center in presenting Boléro and The Firebird during an evening "Artists at the Center" featuring Hugo Marchand, Paris Opera Ballet Etoile, alongside the Béjart Ballet Lausanne.
Paris Opera Ballet Étoile Hugo Marchand is the curator and lead performer of New York City Center’s fifth Artists at the Center program, the most ambitious to date. The highlight of the program is Maurice Béjart’s Boléro, a tour de force piece for a dancer so special that few artists have been granted permission to perform the work since its creation in 1961. Set to Ravel’s Boléro, Marchand dances a triumphant, athletic solo surrounded by 18 dancers from the Béjart Ballet Lausanne. The program also includes Béjart’s The Firebird performed by the Béjart Ballet Lausanne and additional Étoiles from the Paris Opera Ballet in works by George Balanchine, Carolyn Carlson, Angelin Preljocaj, and Hans van Manen.
