Collection Particulière

In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels™ is supporting the Festival Les Inaccoutumés for the presentation of the show Collection Patriculière by Maria Donnata D'Urso.
This solo performance, created in 2025, arose from a subtle yet radical exploration of skin as the origin of movement. As the interface between our bodies and the world, it is the envelope that both protects us from, and connects us to, our surroundings. In this piece, I grapple with a theme that I have come back to again and again, throughout my work as a choreographer: the invention of an architecture for the body. Basing myself on my extensive research into somatic states, I intend for the body itself to become both the architect and architecture of the space of the stage.
The system created for this piece enables me to study the body starting from its very foundations: by making the supports and the dynamics of movement horizontal, I compose bodily states in which gravity and suspension intersect continuously. The dialogue between sensory narration and the "horizontal medium" of the space represents the starting point for this solo performance.
Re-performing and reactivating this stage system today entails recreating the narrative structure of the sensations involved in another perceptual and temporal context. This rereading may indeed resemble a rewriting and thus open the way to new interpretations." Maria Donata D'Urso
