Hauts Cris (miniature)
Vincent Dupont
In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting la Ménagerie de verre for the presentation of Hauts Cris (miniature) by Vincent Dupont as part of Les Inaccoutumés Automne festival 2025.
A set featuring construction in perspective. A man — the dancer and choreographer Vincent Dupont himself — appears in a closed interior where everything seems too small for him. Hauts Cris (miniature) works with different scales of representation. On the one hand, under Yves Godin's diffused lighting, the man seems distant, both overexposed and faded, controlled and emerging from a dream. On the other, the sound treatment of breath and movement — installed by the ingenious Thierry Balasse — create a sense of proximity. Perceptual confusion intensifies and all reality recedes, giving way to inner states that rumble and threaten. Although they prompted the project, Agrippa d'Aubigné's alexandrine verses do not appear immediately: this is the director's way of questioning the place of the text and the body. The slowed-down movements lend weight to the words, giving time a different tempo.
