The Quiet Magic
Daniel Linehan & Victor Perez Armero
In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the upcoming creation of Daniel Linehan and Victor Perez Armero, The Quiet Magic.
The Quiet Magic explores the organic connection between music and dance. Inspired by the compositions of Adrianne Lenker, Linehan presents a stripped-down performance where the dancers’ movements respond to the music with deliberate spontaneity and vulnerability. Through fluid, immersive gestures, and distancing itself from spectacular artifice, Linehan invites us to reflect on our relationship to the essential and to shared experience, offering an intimate meditation on the fragile beauty of the present moment.
Two dancers, born with male bodies, who don’t always relate to the qualities that are coded as “male”.
What if we want to wear dresses and sparkling make-up, and open up to our soft and tender beauty, inside and out?
What is the special magic that hides in the corners and doesn’t reveal itself to the direct gaze?
What is the poetry that evokes that sense of bliss we feel in this precious moment of being alive, this exquisite feeling that is impossible to express in words?
And yet we try to express it anyway, in words, in sounds, in dance.
We try to share what’s inside us that is delicate and fragile, and celebrate the quiet mystery.
We try to pursue soft openness as an act of loving defiance, in a world that is too saturated with loud noise and hard-edged rigidity.
What if we savor the quiet over the noise?
When we start to listen to the secrets of the quiet magic, what will we all discover?
