RODA

RODA seeks a state of place, that of a festive revolt. RODA summons a state of body, that of adolescence. RODA is a continuous, circular group movement that approaches the form of a procession.

With RODA, from the Latin rotāre, meaning 'to move in a circle', Aina Alegre explores adolescence as a state of the body — a force to be reawakened, shaped by momentum, rebellion, euphoria and upheaval. On stage, eight dancers and five musicians come together and push themselves beyond their limits, carried towards exhilaration by music inspired by Mediterranean brass bands, marching bands, and the second lines originating in New Orleans. At the heart of the piece lies the figure of the wheel, the circular and rotational movement that drives a dance seeking to connect us with one another, to bring us together as a group, and to create collectively. An invitation to rediscover that adolescent feeling that everything is still possible, and to celebrate together the collective impulse, the cycle of life.
