In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels™ is supporting the Setagaya Public Theatre for the presentation of Alter Ego by Akaji Maro and Éric-Maria Couturier.
Born in 1943, Akaji Maro began his career in the underground theater scene in Tokyo before founding the Dairakudakan, a leading company in Butoh dance, in 1972. With his company, he has performed around the world. He has worked alongside Hijikata, Mishima and Araki, and collaborated with Jeff Mills. A multi-award winner, Maro created GOLD SHOWER in 2020 with François Chaignaud. Also an actor, Maro has appeared in over 100 films, including Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.
