In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels™ is supporting the Setagaya Public Theatre for the presentation of the show Alter Ego by Akaji Maro and Éric-Maria Couturier.
Eric-Maria Couturier, a cellist who continues to captivate audiences around the world, and Akaji Maro, a living legend of Butoh. “Music” and “Body”, their boundaries merge and metamorphose.
Alter Ego premiered as a solo dance piece by Akaji Maro with Eric-Maria Couturier at the Festival ARTONOV, in Brussels in September 2024. At the Odoru Akita Festival as Japanese premier in October 2025, and at Maison de la musique de Nanterre as French premier in November 2025.
For this Tokyo premier, along with these two leading artists, four female Butoh dancers from Dairakudakan join to further accomplish the stage.
