The French performer and choreographer François Chaignaud has long turned to collaborations to fuel his unconventional work.
In April, he will reunite with Butoh master Akaji Maro for a revival of their Gold Shower – a work that gives free rein to their very different, yet equally flamboyant, stage personas – at Paris’s Théâtre de Chaillot. Alongside Aya Soejima’s interview with Maro for this issue of CN D Magazine, Chaignaud spoke about the process of making Gold Shower and his longstanding desire to “complicate” the notion of authorship in dance.
