Dance Places

L’Échangeur has come a long way since 1991. Initially installed in a former mill in Fère-en-Tardenois, a small town of 3,500, the venue became an early promoter of choreographic residencies, supporting artists who needed time and space to create.

In 2006, it moved to Château-Thierry, on the renovated premises of a former LU factory. For the ongoing video series “Dance Places,” which offers viewers a “tour” of an artistic director’s vision through the location where they work, Christophe Marquis, the founder of L’Échangeur, opened the doors to his current studios and talked about the history of the institution, his vision for creative residencies and the festivals L’Échangeur holds every year.
