AUNTS
Archive Barchive
Performance
10-18 June
The Art Center at Governors Island
The AUNTS archive is a public hub for the creation of an archive for AUNTS, a roving platform for dance and performance based on the core values of inclusivity, collectivity, and resource sharing. For River To River Festival 2023, they are presenting a series of programming in what they’ve coined the BARCHIVE. Modeled after Judy Chicago’s iconic feminist work, The Dinner Party (1974-79), the sports bar will inhabit a space at The Arts Center on Governors Island for the month of June, where visitors can visit the bar to view and participate in the archive-in-process, look at photos and videos from past events, attend live performances, and talks. Past AUNTS artists, organizers, and institutional partners are invited to take a seat where collecting, gathering and archiving activities can take place around the free-standing triangular “sports bar".

Molly Lieber
Zero Station
Performance
12 June
Flamboyan Theater
The Clemente, Zero Station is an illumination of the potential for profound connection between two healing/transforming individuals, demonstrated physically due to the capacity to express this connection palpably and viscerally. Lieber and Smith express this connection not as an inverse or opposite of dominance and rape, but as transcendence through it. Performances are an offering, an invitation toward the internal landscape, as reclamation of empowerment through memory held in the body, aided by collaborative support.
Antonio Ramos
Ceremonia
Performance
15 June
La Plaza
The Clemente, The Gangbangers blossom and wilt in a dance-theatre performance conceived by Antonio Ramos. In a mixed-tape Latino extravaganza of cultural misappropriation and reappropriation, Ramos calls on his ancestors and carries the audience on a journey to the bottom of the ocean and back again. This piece is a ceremony.
Andros Zins-Browne
duel c
Performance
16-18 June
Governors Island
duel c is a performance where care and violence commingle, stirring toward undoing. A dance of entanglement, duel c aims to inhabit an illogic, a sentience and perpetual movement that isn’t funded by empathy, guilt, nor the labor of the captive.
