Bach Cello Dance
Anastasia Kobekina
Sasha Waltz
In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the Romaeuropa Festival for the presentation of Bach Cello Dance by Anastasia Kobekina and Sasha Waltz.
Two artists meet in a unique dialogue between music and dance: Anastasia Kobekina, one of the most prominent cellists of her generation, and internationally renowned choreographer Sasha Waltz, who returns to the stage as a dancer for the first time in many years.
At the heart of this encounter—echoing Sasha Waltz’s celebrated projects exploring the relationship between music, dance, and space—are Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cello Suites, which Anastasia Kobekina has recently recorded in a major new interpretation of all six suites.
Together, the two artists explore Bach’s music through cello and body in an experimental spirit. In a subtle interplay of echoes and correspondences, Kobekina and Waltz engage in an intimate dance that invites audiences to experience the emotional depth of Bach’s music from a completely new perspective.
