Fracas x 7

Choreographer François Chaignaud and beatboxer Aymeric Hainaux weave together a physical and musical alchemy, where sound, voice and rhythm intertwine in an unclassifiable performative intensity. Fracas x 7 is an extension of Mirlitons, exploring a unique language of body and sound.

Break through. Let the voices, the footsteps and the beating, pulsating bodies resonate. François Chaignaud and Aymeric Hainaux propose an alternative version of this flashy duet, specially designed for the 7L showcase. In response to the book Respirer: La Puissance Créatrice du Souffle (Breathing: The Creative Power of Breath) by Maurice Fréchuret, chosen as part of the Exquis program, they focus on the odd, "Supple in the air, vague, flexible / Free of pounding beat, heavy or terse." Their noisy fantasy, decidedly varied in meaning and rhythm, is accompanied for the occasion by a publication—a facetious correspondance written in doggerel verse, in the form of heptasyllabic stansas. In verse, in rhyhm, in voice, in steps, irregularity interferes in all gears and disrupts all genres: beatbox meets lyrical song, harmonic feedback meets cannabalistic pastoral, all to the delight of our ears.
