The Last Hamlet
Ben Duke

In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the Théâtre de la Ville for the presentation of The Last Hamlet by Ben Duke.
After staging Romeo and Juliet and Medea as if they were modern day characters, Ben Duke now sets out to change the way we look at Shakespeare's anti-hero. And for the first time, Hamlet is aware of being on a stage! He takes the opportunity to play with theatrical presence to engage his audience directly. Sometimes in the role of the Prince, sometimes in that of the actor, this Hamlet, played by Ben Duke himself, verges on the typically British tradition of stand-up comedy. And the excellent Hannah Shepherd and Miguel Altunaga, who were so impressive in Ruination: The True Story of Medea, dance the emotions of Ophelia, Gertrude, Claudius, and Fortinbras, as if they were living among us. Their gestures are as poignant as Hamlet's language, as he searches for the meaning of his actions and his life.
