à l’ombre d’un vaste détail, hors tempête.
Christian Rizzo

In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting Chistrian Rizzo for the creation of à l’ombre d’un vaste détail, hors tempête. and its presentation at the Maison de la Danse as part of the Biennale de la danse de Lyon and at the Festival d'Automne.
A sudden detail unfolds amidst unnoticed mundane gestures and habits. Perhaps the simplest everyday details are the very space or place which connect to the invisible?
Start by conjuring up a very simple, very ordinary image: a scene from everyday life, someone cleaning down a surface, perhaps. The person is totally engrossed in their chore. Movement is suspended, concentrated, applied. Like a choreographic work in which action is self-sufficient. Like the quivering of fiction on the run. In the wake of previous works, Christian Rizzo opens the stage to the powers of abstraction, while maintaining the theatrical spectrum. Here, the reality of dance is revealed through the beat and interstice of the two dimensions. Veiling and unveiling, staging and permanent reframing, lends mobility to the space, making it a character in its own right. Alongside deeply organic dance steps, situations appear and disappear with the trajectories of three curtains. A group of dancers forms, divides and recomposes under the watchful eye of a labile structure. Repetition escapes multiplication: hidden somewhere within absences and gaps, a peaceful place emerges. Detail, delight, and a search for solitude and serenity.
