Moteur
Cassiel Gaube
In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting Cassiel Gaube for the creation of Moteur.
In her new solo Moteur, Cassiel Gaube revists the many techniques that nurtured and shaped his understanding of dance. From the cornerstone of Western dance that is ballet—described by Steve Paxton as the desire to extend the limbs into space away from the center of the body—to postmodern, contemporary and house dance, inscribed in a rhizome of other social dances, this juxtaposition aims to underline what each technique allow us to see, feel and think amid a spectrum of kinesthetic possibilities, urging us to explore their potential intersections.
Each technical tradition is taken as a singular prism through which one apprehends the possibilities of the dancing body. The work seeks less to synthesize these approaches than to identify their underlying logic and discover what emerges from their intersections—where the saliences of one reveal the interstices of the other, and where the contact of their differences opens kinesthetic spaces yet to be imagined.
