For her new piece NÔT, presented at the opening of the 2025 Festival d’Avignon, the Cape Verdean choreographer draws inspiration from One Thousand and One Nights. Her aesthetic resonates with this centuries-old work of oral literature with its abundance of stories and details, its union of opposites and its exploration of evil. In every performance, the dancers enact a duel between reality and desire, love and war, grotesque and sublime, alienation and freedom.
