In 2023, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting Park Avenue Armory for the presentation of The Rite of Spring by Pina Bausch, and common ground[s], by Germaine Acogny and Malou Airaudo.
In this historic exchange between Pina Bausch Foundation (Germany), École des Sables (Senegal) and Sadler’s Wells (UK), Pina Bausch’s Rite - recreated with dancers from all over Africa - along with a duet, between Germaine Acogny and Malou Airaudo.
This project marks its era in dance. Under the direction of former and current performers of this monument of dance, more than 30 dancers from 14 African nations reimagine Pina Bausch’s iconic Rite accompanied by a score by Stravinsky, a groundbreaking masterpiece in the history of music.
For their part, Germaine Acogny, the mother of contemporary dance in Africa, created a duet with Malou Airaudo, one of the great performers of the Tanztheater Wuppertal.
These two grandes dames of dance swap sensations, memories, and experiences, and share them with the public. Guaranteed to enrichen your artistic - not to mention human - sensibilities.
