River Without Banks
Kyle Abraham
In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève for River Without Banks, a work commissioned from choreographer Kyle Abraham.
From two pianos flows a deep and sparkling river of sound, whose waves seem to spread to the surrounding space, which shimmers and ripples in a play of watercolor hues. Swept into this infinite current, couples are made and unmade as they travel and transform, leading to delicate separations or renewed unions. Kyle Abraham explores the passage of time and the vulnerability of feelings in River Without Banks. Set to an enchanting score by Leo Svirsky, Abraham's new creation for eight performers blends solos, duets and ensembles in a constantly evolving environment imagined by his longtime collaborator, set and lighting designer Dan Scully.
