Maurice Béjart
In 2027, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels™ is supporting La Fenice for the presentation of three pieces by Maurice Ravel performed by Béjart Ballet from Lausanne: Serait-ce la mort ?, The Firebird and Boléro.
From January 13 to 17, 2027, for the first time since 2005, Béjart Ballet Lausanne makes its grand return to La Fenice in Venice, as part of the anniversary seasons celebrating the centenary of Maurice Béjart's birth and the company's 40 years.
The company will perform three major works from Maurice Béjart's repertoire, featuring a live orchestral accompaniment by the Teatro La Fenice Orchestra, a rare configuration that will make this event unique. There is a history behind this return. When La Fenice burnt down in 1996, the company was on tour in Palermo. Maurice Béjart took the stage that evening to announce the news to the audience, promising that dance would have its place on that stage once the theater reopened.
He kept his word: in 2004, upon the reopening of La Fenice, Béjart Ballet Lausanne was among the first to perform in this legendary hall, at last reconstructed. Twenty years on, the company sets foot on this stage once more to perform three exceptional pieces: Serait-ce la mort ?, The Firebird and the legendary Boléro.
