Sturbzep
Sophie Perez
In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting La Bâtie - Festival de Genève for the presentation of Sturbzep by Sophie Perez.
Beware of hoaxes and trickery: with Sturbzep, Sophie Perez transforms the stage into a space of collective hallucination. The Loch Ness Monster, Andy Kaufman’s atomic pranks, 19th-century female writers under male pseudonyms, cryptids and other visual hoaxes fuel this new production by the ever-inventive Compagnie du Zerep. In the age of tragic farce and alternative truths, falsehood is everywhere and here it becomes a ruthless playground.
In an atmosphere that evokes—in turn, or even all at once—a haunted mansion, a neon-free carnival and the worst prophetic nightmares, Sturbzep fills the black box with giant larvae, sly mustachioed creatures and smoky visions. This controlled chaos, as hilarious as it is unsettling, is embodied by Sophie Lenoir, Stéphane Roger, Erge Yu, Adrie Castillo and Baptiste de Laubier. This theatrical experience, written in collaboration with Pacôme Thiellement, the “pope of exegesis,” and legendary musicians Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke, showcases yet more facets of their talent during a concert by their duo, hackedepicciotto, at Cave12, as well as a film-concert by Alexander Hacke at the Alhambra.
A 2026 production, co-produced with Maison Saint-Gervais.
