A long bench is placed along the lip of the proscenium, redefining the stage as a narrow, linear space. Along this line, five dancers move through a sequence of meticulously composed tableaus. They sit, stand, recline, they drape. Their bodies drift between rest, anticipation, and observation, while maintaining a continuous tension within their unfolding narrative. Fixed images give way to subtle shifts, and stillness becomes a charged condition, shaped by duration, accumulation, and quiet transformation.

The bench becomes at once a support, a display, and a frame. Drawing on Hassabi’s language of stillness and deceleration, Us treats time as material and presence as an active, sustained state, one that is negotiated moment by moment. Positioned directly opposite the audience, the performers establish a parallel field of attention. Alone and together, among themselves and in relation to the viewers, Us unfolds within this shared alignment. Them and us. Seated, in parallel, a quiet exchange of attention, duration, and perception.
