Weathering
Faye Driscoll

In 2025, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the Festival d'Automne for the presentation of Weathering by Faye Driscoll.
A sensory whirlwind, Weathering choreographs the bonds of reciprocity and seals an inevitably shared destiny.
Whether an imitation block of ice or an end-of-the-world raft, a white mass lies at the center of the space. On it, 10 performers whose bodies interlace, slowly compose images, like tableaux vivants from a queer imagination. Fingers slip into a mouth, a trickle of drool drips down a back, hands clutch a collar, gasps evoke both suffering and pleasure: in a vertigo of chain reactions and interdependencies, every micro-event will have repercussions on this group that is constantly morphing. Under a harsh light, the audience, seated all around, is completely caught up in this 360° installation of breaths, harmonies of voices, flesh, sensuality, smells, liquids and objects. Weathering makes perceptible what is much bigger than us: a meteorological system that binds us all, its imbalance, its excess, its out-of-control frenzy. In this chaos, for which we all share responsibility, there is no turning back. The cataclysm has become more than a mere possibility.
