Après moi, le déluge

In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting (LA)HORDE and the Ballet national de Marseille for the upcoming creation, Après moi, le déluge.
Après moi, le déluge emerges at a tipping point, a fragile moment when the world loses its footing. Under the weight of crises and collective exhaustion, bodies collapse, dissolve and disintegrate before the performance has even begun.
Moving against the flow of time, the dance attempts to trace its way back to before the catastrophe, before erosion took hold. But this machine can only be stopped through a radical act: tearing up the floor, gutting the stage, opening a chasm. From beneath emerge monstrous, composite figures—products of our collective narratives, our silences and our acts of surrender.
In a liminal, subterranean space, the major structures of the world are replayed: power, inheritance, domination, but also the possibility of transformation. The scenes proceed like micro-rituals where care heals as much as it constrains, where gentleness slips into control and gestures of attention betray dominance.
Following Room with a View and Age of Content, this new piece continues an exploration already underway: dance as a means of transgressing imposed narratives. Après moi, le déluge is a collective introspection—a descent beneath the surface of everyday gestures and power structures—questioning our relationship to care, to the gaze, to inheritance and to transformation.
