In 2024, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the creation and presentation of Noé Soulier’s Close Up.

Drawing inspiration from Bach’s The Art of Fugue, Close Up is an innovative choreographic work that employs videos to reveal different dimensions of the body and movement.  Written for six dancers and five musicians, Close Up will premiere in July 2024 at the Festival d’ Avignon. This creation is a synthesis and deepening of the research Noé Soulier conducted in his latest pieces. It continues exploring the relationship with music, begun in Faits et Gestes (2016), Les Vagues (2018), and First Memory (2022), with the on-stage musicians from the Ensemble Il Convito directed by Maude Gratton. It further enhances the work with videos and explores the relationship between the dancers and the camera, as seen in Fragments, by examining the possibilities of real-time video.
