La Venerina

In 2021, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting Opéra de Lyon Ballet in creating Nina Santes’ La Venerina, a solo piece interpreted by Elsa Monguillot de Mirman as part of the Danser Encore project (2020-2023).
When choreographer Nina Santes met dancer Elsa Monguillot de Mirman, she asked her, “What have you never done on stage?” Elsa answered: “I have never frightened my audience”. Thus was born La Venerina: a production about mutations and destiny that addresses the notion of fiendish figures.
This solo – the dancer’s first – becomes a plot of risk and danger, but also of empowerment, transgression and self-transformation. Designed as a micro-fiction or a movie scene, it portrays voice and sound as central aspects of presence, extensions of movement. In a resounding and possessed dance, Elsa Monguillot de Mirman conjures a polyphonic character in the guise of a mutant woman.
