Masse
Myriam Gourfink
In 2026, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting the Festival d'Automne for the presentation of Masse by Myriam Gourfink.
How can a deeply inward dance be shared? Born of a meditative practice, Myriam Gourfink’s Masse explores states of perception and resonance. Originally created as a solo in 2022, the piece is now reimagined as a duet with France Cartigny, where dialogue becomes a driving force.
For many years, Myriam Gourfink has developed her research through meditative practices drawn from Tibetan yoga. Through these techniques, she explores bodily states shaped by breath, internal circulation and the gliding of the fascia. With Masse, she continues this approach by focusing on states of resonance. Here, images emerge, and sensations come into focus as they begin to guide movement. The dance unfolds slowly from within the body, in a continuous flow attentive to transformation. This shift opens a shared space of research, sustained by transmission and lineage. Together, the two dancers move around as balances readapt and internal currents readjust in a play of attraction. From within the world of Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, in close proximity to the audience, the two dancers explore a dance anchored in their relationship: newly attuned to the world, the dance transforms through contact with the other and opens onto alterity.
