In 2023, Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels is supporting River To River Festival for the presentation of Lotto Royale curated by Camila Malenchini, Layton Lachman and John Hoobyar.

Lotto Royale is a two-day program of performances between one audience member and one performer in a public space. Originally conceived by the artist Camila Malenchini in collaboration with the artist collective T.E.N.T., Lotto Royale was first presented in Berlin in August 2022 with performances by Berlin-based artists. For River To River Festival, Lotto Royale will present performances by New York–based artists.

Camila Malenchini

Camila Malenchini is a Berlin based Argentinean dancer and artist. Her artistic practice crosses diverse media, from choreography and sculpture to digital media and curatorship. Her work starts at the body and questions imagination as both danger and possibility today. She completed her studies in Performance and Choreography at the Berlin University of the Arts (HZT). Previously studied arts in Argentina at the Centro de Investigaciones Artísticas, at the UNA and at the dance school Arte XXI. Her work has been presented in DOCK 11, HAU, Centro Cultural Konex, Arqueologias del Futuro among others. Her artistic endeavor is also accompanied by a curatorial practice that changes in shape but is centered in creating space for art making and exchange.

Layton Lachman

Layton Lachman is a choreographer and performer based in Berlin. They create performances rooted in somatics, channeling experiential practices into immersive, sensorially complex worlds. Layton is committed to dance practice centered on group study and collective authorship — with the understanding that we are always collaborating with those who come before, after, and with us. They consider authorship within the premise of transmission, relation, alliance and ensemble. Their practice includes staged works, films, installations and audio/performative tours. In addition to artistic practice, Layton is also a teacher and independent curator, currently in the context of Lotto Royale 2023.
