A friend of the Maison since 2018, Olivia Bee was invited by Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival 2022 in London to lend an artistic eye to the choreographic creations programmed during the festival.

Olivia Bee shares her intentions and feelings during these photo shoots: “Capturing Dance Reflections was an adventure. To witness such a diverse collection of contemporary dance, I felt so lucky. When watching the performances, I tried to look for moments where the dancers were moving together in a painterly way like this was the moment that would be framed in the museum if it were in oil. When backstage, in the studio and on the street, I wanted to show more of an intimate snapshot of what it means to prepare for those moments on stage.

I was surprised by how theatrical modern dance can and has become in terms of production and also how a piece can be both classic and modern at the same time. I loved spending time with dancers backstage and in the studio the most – the moments of humanness – saving a ladybug from being stepped on, laughing at what their partner whispered during rehearsal, watching for their queue to leap upon the stage”.
