Workshop - SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME
Alessandro Sciarroni

In 2024, Dance Reflection by Van Cleef & Arpels continues to pursue its commitment to transmission and education and is organizing in collaboration with Kyoto Experiment a workshop around the show Save the Last Dance for Me as part of the Dance Reflection by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival in Japan.
The polka chinata, a courtship dance that originated in Bologna in the early 1900s, is revived in Alessandro Sciarroni’s Save the Last Dance for Me and in this workshop led by dancers Gianmaria Borzillo and Giovanfrancesco Giannini. The purpose is not to train participants to become expert polka chinata dancers, but rather to create a sense of community and transmit the steps of this ancient dance to as many people as possible. A project dedicated to conserving this dance and ensuring that it remains meaningful today.
