Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels and the Centre national de la danse – in collaboration as part of Photo Days – present: I felt the stars in that room., an exhibition by Olivia Bee from November 3 to December 16, 2023.
During the first editions of the Festival Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels – in London in March 2022 and in Hong Kong in May 2023 – the American photographer Olivia Bee followed the dancers and choreographers day in and day out. These encounters with the contemporary choreographic scene have inspired a series of analogue film images: the movement and beauty of the instant hang suspended, as if floating in the air.
“At the performances, I tried to capture the moments when the dancers were moving together pictorially, like a framed picture in an art museum. Backstage, in the studio or in the street, I wanted to show a more intimate view of the preparations for these moments on stage.”
